*He threw a no-hitter in the 1976 Pony League World Series.
*A 1980 graduate of Ringgold, Gary hurled four no-hitters for the Rams.
*He pitched more than 20 no-hitters in youth baseball and American Legion competition.
*His fourth no-hitter came was a 2-1 victory with 11 strikeouts during the first start of his senior season against Connellsville, who was the to-ranked team in the Post-Gazette’s High School Baseball Poll.
*Another victory that senior season was an 18-inning 22-strikeout 2-1 six-hit victory over Belle Vernon. Three days later he earned a save against Uniontown.
*Columbus went 8-1 his senior season with a 1.13 ERA, 109 strikeouts in 74 innings. He batted .327 as the designated hitter when not pitching.
*His career pitching record at Ringgold was 16-2 and he also played football.
*He was also a standout for the Carroll Township Thorobred team, which was guided by his high school coach. John Kendra.
*At Point Park, Gary was named to the 1983 NAIA All-District Team and to the All-Area VII second-team
*He passed away on June 10, 2010.
