COACH AND ATHLETIC ADMINISTRATOR

He became Carmichaels first-ever head varsity softball coach in 1976 and held that position for 18 years.

During that time span, Carmichaels softball compiled a cumulative record of 306-52 (.855)

Krajnak coached the team to 12 section titles and two WPIAL runner-up finishes.

For five years the team’s only loss was in the final game and no Krajnak-coached team lost more than three games in a season.

He became Carmichaels’ athletic director in 1982 and held that position for 41 years.

During his A.D. tenure, he re-established the junior high athletic programs, as well as starting several varsity programs, including girls volleyball, boys and girls soccer, and established a co-op varsity wrestling program with Jefferson-Morgan. He also started a 4-6th grade boys and girls basketball program and convinced the district to hire a fulltime athletic trainer.

Twice named the Tri-County Athletic Directors Association AD of the Year and the Eastern Association of Interscholastic Football Officials AD of the Year in 2005, he helped establish the TRICADA Scholarship Program.

Krajnak also served on the WPIAL Steering Committee for 10 years and before Carmichaels he began his teaching and coaching in the Central Greene School District in 1968.
