At Chartiers High School Guido earned four letters in football and baseball and three letters in basketball. In 1945 he led his team to the WPIAL Class B Football Championship and as WPJAL Class B Runners-up in 1947. He was selected First Team

All-WPIAL by the Pittsburgh Sun-Telegraph and was that papers nominee Western Pennsylvania “Player of the Year, Scarton played in the first ever Dapper Dan All-Star Football Game at Forbes Field vs. the Jaycees All-Stars. He was a starting left halfback and scores a touchdown

As a Sophomore at Wake Forrest (Freshmen we not eligible) he was the starting defensive back and 2nd Team running back. In his Junior and Senior years he was 1st team running back and defensive back, the only player to start both ways.

He was the leading rusher in 1950 and 1951. Two time Daily News All-State, Two time Southern Conference All-Star, 1950 United Press Honorable Mention All-American and the Associated Press 3rd• team All-South

The National Football Foundation list the Wake Forrest Football Teams of 1949,1950,1951 in the College Football Hall of Fame.
