HAROLD MC NAMARA

Peters Township High School

Played football for 4 years as a defensive end/offensive tackle. A two year varsity letterman, a 4 time game-week captain, and team Scholar Athlete of the Year Award recipient and was selected to the ProGrass All-Star Invitational game. Played basketball for two years.

Harold is a member of the National Honor Society, placed first in 3 events at Regional competition in Division B of the, Science Olympiad, Science of Fitness, Life Science Process Lab and Map Reading. He also placed first in Division C, at Regional Competition in Physics Lab.

He was a team member for the Science Bowl during his junior and senior years. Senior Class President. Participated in the John Hopkins City Program in the 8th. 9th. and 10th. Grades. Courses included American Legal History, Psychology and Civil War History.
He was commended for performance on AATG national German language examination, freshman and sophomore years.

McNamara worked for the Cardiovascular Research Institute, University of Pittsburgh, Research specialist. Project involved learning PCR based genotyping for the study of the impact of mutations in a gene, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in Primary Pulmonary Hypertension (PAH).

Publication (abstract) based on summer work experience.

Harold is a member of the Christ United Methodist Church Chapel Choir and Youth Fellowship. He is the Leader of senior high missions during his senior year; In addition he has worked Summer Work Mission Projects building homes for the poor in Jamaica, 2005 and Home Repairs in underserved areas, North Carolina 2006.
