JOSEPH J. KROL

Joseph J. (Joe King) Krol, a native of Ontario, Canada, began his professional baseball career in Canada. He advanced to the Rochester Red Wings of the International League in 1943, and after serving in the U.S. Navy Seabees, played minor league baseball at Columbus, Ohio, Denver and Brownsville, Texas where he was a player-manager.

Krol, who also played for the Washington Redbirds early in his career, was scheduled to advance to the St. Louis Cardinals after having batted .319 at Rochester but his chance for a major league career was halted when he went in the service.

In addition to the Cardinals, he played for the New York Yankees and St. Louis Browns farm teams.

Krol died in 1975 at the age of 56.
