• Played in 5 Pro Bowls, 6 AFC Championship Games and 4 Super
• Enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of
  eligibility – 1989
• NFL 75th Anniversary All Time Team – 1994
• Inducted into the Georgia and Louisiana Sports Halls of Fame
• Founded the Mel Blount Youth Home in Claysville, Pa in 1989
• Spokesman for Safe and Sound, an organization involved in the
  prevention of child abuse
