RAY HART

Ray (Hess) Hart of Washington, a 1933 graduate of Trinity High School, started playing baseball in Washington YMCA Saturday Morning League.

He later pitched in the Washington Church League, Hazel Atlas Interplant League and for other local teams which sought his services.

Hart began a professional baseball career at Fulton, KY.

in the old Kitty League and played in both the Detroit and St. Louis farm systems. He spent spring training with Rochester, NY. and New Orleans clubs and then pitched for Decauter, IL. and Mobile, AL. before World War II.

After the war, Hart resumed sandlot competition with local teams such as S.A. Meyer, Scott Motor, Strabane and McDonald in the Greater Pittsburgh League. Hart’s last active role in baseball was as a coach in the Washington Pony League.

He also played basketball in the Washington Church League and the Hazel Atlas Interplant League.
