STANLEY MOUSETIS

Stanley Mousetis of Pittsburgh, an assistant wrestling coach at the University of Pittsburgh, is a 1946 graduate of Washington High School and a 1950 graduate of Franklin & Marshall College.

He was a WPIAL and PIAA wrestling champion in high school, lost only one dual match in his college career and was Eastern Intercollegiate champion.

Mousetis began his coaching career at Bellefonte High School in 1951 and coached at Washington High School from 1955 through 1979 when he moved to Plum High School where he served until taking the Pitt position in 1985.

At Wash High he coached four state champions and a number of sectional and regional champions. He has also coached five wrestlers who won All-America mention; four who won national freestyle and Grecco Roman titles and had two undefeated seasons.

Mousetis has been named Washington County and WPIAL Coach of the Year; for many years has been coach of the Pennsylvania all-state team competing in the annual USA national wrestling championships in Iowa and was a high school and collegiate official for 20 years. He ranks among the top 10 Pennsylvania high school coaches in total victories.
