TAMARRA NIXON MILES
2023 NOMINEE – ATHLETE
Washington High School
Kent State University
- She was an eight-time PIAA Track and Field medalist, which included state championships in the 100-meter dash (1998), and 4 x 100-meter relay team and overall team state title in 1996.
- Nixon Miles earned PIAA runner-up, third-place and eighth-place finishes in the 200-meter dash and runner-up and fifth-place finishes in the 100-meter dash.
- She was also a five-time WPIAL champion, winning a pair of 100- and 200-meter dash titles and being part of a 4 x 100-meter championship relay team as well as earning a runner-up showing in the 100-meters.
- She finished with the WPIAL Class AAA record in the 200-meters (25.3) and was a 1998 National Scholastic Track and Field finalist.
- Tamarra was also a five-time Washington-Greene County champion who set numerous county, meet and school records with multiple MVP awards.
At Kent State
- She set the school record in the 60-meter dash which stood for 11 years and still ranks fifth.
- Tamara still ranks third in the Kent State record books in the 55-meter dash and her 4 x 100-relay teams still own the school’s fourth and ninth top times.
- A three-year letter-winner, she helped the 2002 Golden Flashes women’s team win the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Outdoor Track and Field team championship.
