Track and Field – Coaching

As a member of the Washington High School Football Team, Tom Stock was a receiver and linebacker, playing on the 1961 Hall of Fame team and the undefeated 1963 team. Stock also participated in basketball and track at Washington and won the gold medal in the 400-yard dash in the PIAA Track and Field Championships in 1962.

For over fifteen years, Tom was a very successful boys and girls sprint coach and head boys track coach at Wash High. His accomplishments include:

• Three Boys WPIAL Team Championships – 1991,1998, and 2000
• 1996 PIAA Girls State Championship team
• Nine individual sprint or relay gold medallists
• Seven PIAA individual or relay silver medallists
• WPIAL AA record setting boys 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams
• Coached seven WPIAL individual sprint champions and numerous WPIAL relay champions
• Coached back to back girls 4×400 PIAA State Champion relay teams in 1994 and 1995

Tom also coached football and basketball at the Brownson House and football at Washington High School, retiring in 2002. He was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for track and field by the Washington-Greene County Coaches Association and was chosen for the Washington High School “Wall of Honor” as an athlete and coach.
