Fort Cherry High School and Chartiers-Houston High School
Briggs coached the Fort Cherry High School Boys Basketball team for 16 seasons (1995-2007, 2020-present) and Chartiers-Houston High School Boys Basketball for 10 seasons, compiling 369 career victories. The Hickory, Pa. native guided the Rangers to six section championships, including a single-season school record 24 wins in 2021-2022 with a WPIAL runner-up finish. Briggs also led the 2023-2024 Rangers to the WPIAL and PIAA semifinals. He was a two-time Washington/Greene County Coach of the Year and TRI-CADA Coach of the Year selection and an Observer-Reporter Coach of the Year recipient. At Chartiers-Houston, Briggs led the team to the program’s only two section championships and twice set the single-season victory record with 19 wins. He received Washington-Greene County, TRI-CADA, and Western Pennsylvania Male (for all male sports) Coach of the Year honors at C-H. Despite only playing two seasons, Briggs was the first player in FC program history to score 1,000 career points. In 1976 he scored a school-record 46 points against Immaculate Conception. Briggs received honorable-mention All-State honors after averaging 28.78 points per game his senior season.
