ALFRED E. LEWIS
Alfred E. Lewis, a native of Waynesburg, played football at Washington High School and was a varsity boxer at Penn State where he won the national collegiate 147 pound title in 1932.
He was a contender for a United States Olympic boxing berth the same year and later participated in professional bouts at Madison Square Garden and Pittsburgh’s Forbes Field.
Lewis also served as recreation officer in the 28th Division at Indiantown Gap in World War II. He died in 1973.
