Houston, PA and Chartiers-Houston High School He was a member of the 1981 and 1982 PIAA Class AAA and WPIAL Class AAA Wrestling Team Champions. Bell won the 145-pound PIAA Class AAA State Championship in 1981 after going 4-0 at the state tourney to finish a 35-7 season. He decisioned Jesse Waltz of Shikellamy in the finals, 7-5. Brian earned third-place PIAA honors in 1982, narrowly missing another state championship. He finished a 29-4 season by going 4-1 at the state tourney, winning two consolation matches after losing 5-3 in the semifinals. He won WPIAL Class AAA Section Championships in 1981 and 1982, which were followed by third-place showings at the WPIAL Regional Championships both of those seasons. Bell also won the Manheim Invitational and placed second at the now-called Powerade Tournament. A standout running back, Brian was a member of the 1981 undefeated conference Champions (10-0). The 1981 Observer-Reporter Offensive Player of the Year, Bell gained more than 1,200 rushing yards with 16 touchdowns in 1981, including a 260-yard effort in a win over Washington. He earned All-WPIAL and All-State honors with seven games of more than 100 rushing yards.
