CHARLES W. MCFARLAND
C.W. (Bill) McFarland of Canonsburg is a graduate of Canonsburg High School in 1939 and Penn Sate University in 1948.
He has won a number of amateur golf titles including the Pennsylvania-Ohio-New York Pro-Am with Mike Pavella in 1955 and 1956; Washington Country Club champion, 1956, 1959 and 1964 and runner-up in 1958 and 1961; Washington-Greene County Champ, 1968; RCA low gross, 1955, 1956, 1957 and 1958; K&J Gold Cup, 1972; Ham-am second place in 1968 and third place, 1969; 1979 low medallist in the Tri-State Seniors (Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio); medallist In Gene Maloney Memorial tournament, 1984; and South Park seniors runnerup,1984.
McFarland has also competed in various other sports and lettered in football, basketball, baseball and track in high school.
He participated in football, baseball and basketball at Penn State.
He played minor league baseball in the Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Browns farm systems and played baseball with McDonald;
in the Pittsburgh City League and with the Canonsburg Elks.
