CLYDE J. DAVIS

Clyde J. Davis Jr. was a basketball star for Washington High School from 1937 through 1940 and was an All-WPIAL selection in 1939.

A Pittsburgh newspaper describing Davis’ All-WPIAL qualities said, “With his height advantage he adds a keen scoring eye, a storehouse of speed, streaked with style and skill.

After graduation from Wash High, Davis played three years of basketball at Virginia Union University in Richmond where he was an all-conference choice and served as team captain.

Davis continued his basketball career in the U.S. Army where he was a member of the 56th Medical Training, Battalion team and starred in the All-Army Basketball Championships at Fort Sam Houston, TX. In 1952, while serving as a first lieutenant.

Davis, now retired, is a resident of Orlando, FL.
