George M. Abd of Washington will be honored as one of Western Pennsylvania’s outstanding amateur golfers.

Abd was Nemacolin Country Club champion in 1948 and 1952 and runnerup in 1952, 1958, 1961 and 1973. He was Nemacolin seniors champion in 1969, 1972, 1973, 1974 and Western Pennsylvania seniors champion in 1974, when he qualified for the U.S. seniors tournament.

Abd set an amateur course record of 65 at Nemacolin May 29, 1955, which was not broken until July 14, 1985.

He served 21 years on the Nemacolin board of directors and served two years as club president
