Preisendorfer was an outstanding baseball player for Bentworth High School and went on to a fine career at Point Park, where he was a standout catcher under the coaching of Frankie Gustine, former Pittsburgh Pirates player
He was a four-year letterman in baseball and three-year letterman in basketball for the Bearcats
At Point Park, from 1968-72, he was a scholarship catcher. In 1972 he was NAIA All-District 18
He became one of the finest scholastic referees in the WPIAL and the state as evidenced by the number of championship games he worked
Preisendorfer was a PIAA basketball official from 1975 to 2015. He worked 15 consecutive WPIAL championships. He worked three state title games in 1988, 1992 and 1998
A member of the Washington-Greene County Basketball Officials Association, he received the recognition award in 1979, 2006 and 2014
In 1999, he was the National Federation State of Pennsylvania Official of the Year
He officiated the Roundball Classic and NCAA Divisions I, II and III from 1998-2010, working several regional and post-season tournaments
For good measure, Preisendorfer is also a gifted golfer, winning the senior club championship in 2014 at Nemacolin Country Club, where he has been a member since 1978
Being a Bentleyville Caramel kid, selling bags of Kraft caramels, enough to win first place in Kraft’s win a ballpark contest
He and his officiating partner, the late Bill Christy, worked more than 500 games together
Preisendorfer was named a recipient of the William A. Christy Award for excellence in officiating in 2013
He formerly owned Strictly Sports, a small sporting goods store in the Mon Valley
