HARRY ROSS
Harry Dan Ross, graduate, California State College, played basketball, baseball and golf at Chartiers-Houston High School.
After college, he returned home to coach Chartiers-Houston’s junior high boys basketball for five years and junior high girls basketball for 15 years.
After coaching at Mon Valley Catholic for two years, he returned to C-H to become the schools head coach for girl’s basketball and softball. His basketball teams qualified for the WPIAL Playoffs 17 of his 19 years of coaching, reaching the WPIAL semifinals in 2001 and advancing to the PIAA playoffs four times. Dan’s overall record is 283-165, a .636 winning percentage.
Dan’s softball teams won 12 section championships, three WPIAL championships, three PIAA Western Championships and were three time PIAA runners-up. Chartiers-Houston has the distinction of being the only Washington County team to win a WPIAL softball championship.
He was named the 1987, 1988 and 2000 WPIAL Coach-of-the-Year, South Hill Coach-of-the-Year and the Washington County Coach of the Year for 2000. His overall record is 384-84, for an outstanding winning percentage of .821
