ATHLETIC ADMINISTRATOR

She has served as the Mapletown School District’s athletic director for the past 28 years, sharing that role with her husband, Washington-Greene HOF inductee George, for the first 10 years.

Linda has been the treasurer of the Washington-Greene County Sports Hall of Fame since March 2022 after the passing of former treasurer and organization cornerstone Edward E. (Eddie) Monaco.

A tireless worker and longtime teacher in the Southeastern School District, she retired from teaching in 2009 after a 37-year career.

Messich served nearly two decades on the WPIAL Board of Control as junior high representative and also two years on the PIAA Board of Control as Girls Athletic Representative.

Since the 1970s, Linda has played a major role in the advancement of female student-athletes at Mapletown, across western Pennsylvania, and throughout the state.

Linda has been a leader in organizations such as the Tri-County and Greene County Athletic Directors Associations, and the Pennsylvania Athletic Directors Association.

In 2017 she was named the Tri-County Athletic Directors Association AD of the Year and has served as secretary and treasurer of the Tri-County South Football Conference. Linda has also served as a playoff game manager in football, basketball, and volleyball.

A certified PIAA basketball official, who coached girls basketball for 12 years at Mapletown and softball, she was a softball standout from a young girl through travel adult leagues.
