Professional Coaching

  • In the Frontier League he was manager of the Washington Wild Things (2002-2004, 2006, 2009), where he was twice named Coach of the Year while leading the team to four playoff appearances with league record for win in 2002 and 2003.
  • He led Ohio Valley in 2005 and was Frontier League Manager of the Year.
  • Other Frontier League teams he managed and handled pitching and third-base coaching duties included Chillicothe Paints (2007-2008), and the Empire State Greys (2023).
  • Mason managed the York Revolution of the Atlantic League for nine seasons and was the winningest manager in team history and fourth winningest in league history with 606 victories, four playoff appearances and the league title in 2017.

College Coaching

  • He coached Washington & Jefferson baseball from 1987-2002, Waynesburg University from 2003-2006 and the University of Pittsburgh from 2007-2009.
  • Mason received Coach of the Year accolades in 1988, 1997, 2003, and 2004, and won conference championships in 1987, 1991, 2003, 2004, and 2007.
  • Besides coaching, Mason owned and operated the Mason School of Baseball and Softball (202-2009), was lead instructor at the CSide Baseball Academy in 2018 and the York Revolution Academy (2010-17, 2019-23).

Player

  • At Canon McMillan as a pitcher he helped the Big Macs win a section title while earning Al-State and All-Section honors.
  • He pitched two no-hitters and was selected to participate in the Pennsylvania East West All Star Game.
  • Mason was an All-Conference and All-Region pitcher at Waynesburg who finished as the program’s career leader in strikeouts.
  • He was a three-year team captain and team MVP.
