NICK MANDICH

IMMACULATE CONCEPTION HIGH SCHOOL AND PENNWEST CALIFORNIA

From 1983 to present, he has coached scholastic and collegiate sports in Washington and Greene Counties, as well as in Florida. He was one of the first coaches for girls basketball at the Brownson House, winning several championships with North Franklin and East Washington. Nick served as Waynesburg Central High School’s Girls Basketball Head Coach from 1984-86 after serving as the assistant coach for Washington High School’s girls program from 1979-83. From 1987-91, Mandich was an assistant coach for PennWest California’s Women’s Basketball team from 1987-91, helping the Vulcans achieve their first PSAC postseason appearances ever. After serving as an assistant coach at New Smyrna Beach School in Florida in 1995, Nick was the West Greene High School’s Girls Basketball Coach from 1996-99, where he was twice selected Washington-Greene County Coach of the Year. From 1999-2001, he was Trinity High School’s Girls Basketball Head Coach and also was the coach in the prestigious 2000 Dapper Dan Classic. After serving as the AAU Girls Basketball Coach of the Lady Magic from 2002-05, Mandich was the assistant Girls coach at Ringgold High School from 2005-08 and then the Rams’ head coach from 2008-13. From 2003-10, Nick was an assistant football coach at Canon-McMillan High School, as well as serving as that school’s assistant boys volleyball coach from 2003-06 and head coach in 2007. From 2015-19, Mandich was an assistant football coach at Washington High School, helping the Little Prexies win the 2017 WPIAL Class AA championship. Since 2024, Nick has also served as a volunteer girls basketball coach at Washington. A longtime teacher, Nick played, coached, and umpired USSSA men’s softball from the early 1970s through the mid-1990s and was the commissioner of the Ten Mile Valley League. From the 1970s to 2000 he officiated basketball, volleyball, and softball while also playing in adult leagues and serving as the Director of the Lemoyne Center from 1995-97.
