THOMAS TEAGARDEN
A five time AAU-AMA Jr. Olympic State Champion and a One-time State runner-up. Tom was featured in Sports Illustrated Magazine in April 1967, “Faces in the Crowd” for his unprecedented (4) consecutive wrestling championship. His high school career record was 68-3-1 for a winning percentage of .944. Undefeated in dual meets, he was the 1969 and 1970 section champion, WPIAL champion, District champion and PIAA state champion in 1969. A 1970 PIAA State runner-up losing in overtime. In 1971 he was the Section runner-up losing to the eventual PIAA State champion.
At Penn State he was 10-1 in his freshman season, EIWA runner-up in 1972 and 1973 and lost in the second round at the National Championships. Sustained a collegiate ending knee injury and attempted a comeback placing 3rd. in the Greco-Roman Nationals and 5th. in the Freestyle Nationals.
Started the Bentworth High School wrestling program in 1976 and had a winning season in (3) years. Won the 1990-1991 WPIAL team championship and was named “Coach of the Year”. Coached the 1991 Pennsylvania All-Star Team vs. United States All-Stars, Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic.
