• Four-year letter-winner and three-year starter at Immaculate Conception High School.
• Compiled a 65-6 cumulative overall record with 44 wins by fall (pins).
• He was a 1977 section runner-up and 1978 section champion at 185 pounds.
• Morrell won the 185-pound WPIAL and PIAA championships.
• He was selected and competed at the 1978 PA Matt Classic.

At W&J

• A four-year starter, Morrell compiled a 13-2 overall record as a freshman, leading the team with 71 points which was second-best in the PAC.
• Finished in second-place at the PAC Tournament as a sophomore in 1979-80.
• He won the PAC championship in both his junior and senior seasons.
• Morrell finished with a school-record 29 pins which still ranks seventh in school history 41 years later.
• Morrell was a four-time NCAA Division III Tournament Qualifier.
