 Outstanding 3 sport athlete – soccer, basketball & baseball

 Member of the 1935 Cecil High School Class B Championship basketball team

 Played organized soccer before his 16th birthday

 Local affiliations included:
 Cuddy & Beadling soccer teams
 Curry Vets of Pittsburgh

 At age 30 selected as the starting goalie for the United States in the 1948 London Olympics.

 Had 2 international appearances with the US National Team the same year.

 Declined an offer to play professional soccer for Belgium.

 Invited to try out with the Brooklyn Dodgers at age 28.

 Inducted into the Soccer Independent Athletic Alumni Association in 1973.

 Inducted into the Western Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 1978.
