ARTHUR “DUTCH” MORRIS

1988 – YOUTH SERVICE

– Long time Washington Bronco League Manager of the  Jessop Steel team starting in 1961.

– Won 3 Bronco League championships and had 6 terms as manager or co-manager of the local All Star team.

– Co-managed the 1968 All Star team that won the regional tournament at Elm Grove, WV and advanced to the final round of the divisional tournament at Martin’s Ferry, WV.

– Morris also organized the Pancake team in the Midget Football League and served as coach for 11 years.

– Played sandlot and semi-pro baseball and football in his youth.

– Described by rival manager and All Star co-leader, Dick Carney as a “tough man to beat and the type of leader whom all of his kids respect and enjoy playing for.  He has really done a lot for the Bronco program.”
