BRAD TOKAR

One of the greatest football players in the history of Fort Cherry High School, Brad Tokar has left an indelible mark on athletics in this area.

At Fort Cherry, Tokar rushed for more than 4,000 yards in a career that saw him earn the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year Award as a junior and senior in 1985 and 1986. In 1986, he led the Rangers to the OVC Championship.

Tokar also excelled on the baseball field. As a centerfielder, Brad keyed the Rangers’ run to the WPIAL AA title in 1986 by defeating Ford City at Pullman Park in Butler. He was the Observer-Reporter’s Outstanding Player during the 1986 and 1987 seasons. The Rangers won the section title in 1987, but were upset early in the WPIAL playoffs by Charleroi.

Brad also enjoyed success as a wrestler while at Fort Cherry, winning a section championship in 1985 as a sophomore. He finished as a WPIAL runner-up that year, his only season as a varsity wrestler.

At Westminster, Tokar was the starting running back and helped the Titans capture the NAIA Division II National Championship in 1988 and 1989. Westminster was NAIA Division II runner-up in 1990, losing to Peru State in the championship game.

As a senior in 1990, Brad was named Kodak All-American, a first team All-NAIA selection in 1988 and 1990, and a second team All-NAIA selection in 1989.

Tokar is the leading rusher in Westminster history with 5,269 yards on 989 carries, 5.3 yards per carry, and 45 touchdowns. He is the Titans second all-time leading scorer with 54 touchdowns and 324 points. Brad owns three of the best five single season rushing marks for Westminster gaining 1,825 yards in 1988, 1,457 yards in 1990, and 1,440 yards in 1989. In 1989, he was named an Academic All-American.

He currently serves as Dean of Admissions at Westminster College and referees high school football games in that area.
