Helping the youth of our area become the leaders of tomorrow has been a driving force behind the endless hours teaching baseball, working on the baseball fields, starting tournaments, umpiring youth baseball games, coaching youth football at the Brownson House, serving as President of grade school booster clubs, Scouting, and the Washington High School Marching and Steel bands.

Dan is a hands on guy and performed as a coach and manager for 20 years in Pony Baseball. He became the Pony Baseball Head Groundskeeper after serving several years helping the Legendary Head Groundskeeper, John Sorice. He became head groundskeeper after the retirement of Mr. Sorice and held that position for 15 years.

During the same time period he helped work on the other ball fields in the program and helped build Bronco Field #2.

He started and managed the 13 year old tournament for 14 years before it became a Sanctioned Tournament. He also became an umpire in the younger baseball leagues for several years.

Dan was voted into the PONY League Baseball Wall of Fame.

He was a 1987 United States Baseball Federation Finalist for Pennsylvania Armature Baseball Coach of the Year. Dan served in the U.S. Army from 1953 thru 1955.

Gagich became involved in the midget football program at the Brownson House as a coach and as President of it’s booster club for 12 years. He was coach of the year in1968.

Dan was also active in the Boy Scouts, Washington High School Marching Band and Steel Band.
