DONALD P. HAZLETT

Donald P. Hazlett of Washington is a native of Apollo and a graduate of Washington High School in 1955 and Ohio State University in 1958.

He had a scholastic wrestling record of 73-10-2 with two undefeated seasons and served as team captain at Wash High where he also won letters in football and track.

He won an AAU wrestling championship in 1953 and was undefeated as a competitor for the Washington YMCA in the early 1960s.

Hazlett started the wrestling program at Immaculate Conception High School in 1964 and coached for nine years. He coached 34 sectional, 27 regional and 10 state champions in the Pennsylvania Catholic Athletic Association with four state champions and one runner-up in 1973.

His teams won three section, two regional and one state tournament.

Hazlett, an employee of West Penn Water Co., was honored by the Pittsburgh Chapter, Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 1972 for his achievements at IC, and was named Wrestling Coach of the Year by the Washington Knights of Columbus in 1973
