DR. HARRY M. COHEN

Dr. Harry M. Cohen, a graduate of Washington High School, where he participated in basketball and track, graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Dental School in 1927 and practiced in Washington for 55 years.

He was recognized as an authority on baseball rules and wrote Little League and Pony League rule books while helping to introduce five major league rules changes. He served as commissioner of Junior Legion baseball and as commissioner of the Washington County Umpires Association for 16 years.

Dr. Cohen also broadcast a weekly sports program for 18 years and was widely known as a speaker at sports banquets.

He received many awards, including a Washington Knights of Columbus lifetime achievement award in 1969 and was active in various organizations, including the Washington YMCA, Society for Crippled Children, Cerebral Palsy and Muscular Dystrophy and as a member of the Washington County Board of Public Assistance.
