EMILLIO DI NARDO

Emilio (Mim) DiNardo, one of a family of 12 children, including nine boys who were golf caddies, was born in Ellsworth and is a resident of Bentleyville. He started caddying at Nemacolin Country Club at the age of 10 in 1929. He was a member of a Nemacolin caddy golf team and was an assistant-pro at five different clubs including Nemacolin and Lincoln Hill, where his brother Leo was pro.

He served in the Air Force in World War 11 and returned to become one of the Tri-State area’s outstanding amateur golfers.

DiNardo won four club championships at Nemacolin and qualified for the Pennsylvania amateur tournament. He teamed with former pro, Mike Pavella to win a number of pro club champion tournaments.

DiNardo carried a scratch handicap for many years and is still a seven handicap golfer at the age of 72. He served on Nemacolin’s board of directors and was a member of a committee which handled caddy scholarship funds.
