FRANK VULCANO, SR.

Frank Vulcano Sr., a resident of Houston, won three PSAC wrestling championships and one second place at Lock Haven State College, where he received his degree in 1951. He had a 53-7-1 record during his college career.

After serving two years with the U.S. Marine Corps, Vulcano started his high school coaching career in 1953 at Scott Township and became head coach at Chartiers-Houston in 1959.

After compiling a 61-37-1 record as a high school coach, he became head coach at California University in 1968 where he served until 1984 and achieved a 181-95-3 record.

He coached four PSAC champions and 10 All-America selections at California where he originated the annual scholastic holiday tournament.

He was a PIAA wrestling official for 32 years and started a match between WPIAL Class A and Class B wrestlers from 1974 through 1976.
