J. KENNETH JOHNSON

J. Kenneth Johnson of Washington has participated In all kinds of shooting since 1948, including rifle, pistol, shotgun and archery In addition to extensive hunting of large and small game.

He started and organized a successful trapshooting league which Included 150 shooters and also organized the Washington Pistol Club.

Johnson won the national small bore rifle prone championship in 1958 and the national small bore rifle prone championship in 1971 at Camp Perry, OH.

He also won the West Virginia state open championship prone small bore rifle three times; Pennsylvania Hess Iron Sight Trophy Match in 1971; was Pennsylvania Small bore Rifle champion in 1973, and was presented with the National Rifle Association Distinguished Medal for Prone small bore Riflemen.

He teamed with his wife Ruth to win a National Lyman Doubles Match at Camp Dodge, Des Moines, IA, in 1949. He was a member of the International Dewar Team which fired a witnessed postal match against English-speaking countries of the world and was a member of four-man gallery rifle teams which won national championships in four-position matches indoors.

Johnson, a 1933 graduate of Trinity High School, attended Washington Business College. He participated in basketball in high school and played baseball and softball in industrial and other local leagues.

He was employed by Hazel Atlas No. 1 Plant.
