JAMES C. LEWIS

James C. Lewis, a Washington native, played end for the Washington High School WPIAL championship football team in 1931 and was an All-WPIAL second team selection.

Lewis won the Washington County Golden Gloves title in 1935 and started his college boxing career as a Penn State University freshman.

He was a varsity boxer three seasons and was Eastern Intercollegiate champion at 165 pounds in 1940. He won first place in the Navy Olympic championship and coached a Navy and Marine boxing team in 1946 while on occupation duty in Japan.

Lewis now resides in Greenville, N.
