LAWRENCE D. ROMBOSKI

Lawrence D. (Rombo) Romboski played only one year of varsity basketball at Washington High School but blossomed into one the outstanding players in W&J history.

Romboski, a four-year letterman for the Presidents, still holds the single game record for total points, a 43-point effort as a sophomore against Bethany in 1956. For a number of years, he also held the W & J career record with 1,294 points.

He was a member of the 1956-57 team which reached the NAIA district playoffs before bowing to Indiana University of Pennsylvania despite Romboski’s 25 points before he fouled out.

Romboski, a resident of California, PA., was high scorer for a national Army Air Defense Command championship team in 1961 and played for the Tylerdale Civics, a Washington semi-pro team.
