LAWRENCE W. FORBISTER

Lawrence W. Forbister, known to all Washington sports fans as “Forble”, is the recipient of the 1988 award for meritorious service.

Although he didn’t have much formal education as an athletic trainer in his youth, “Forble” has devoted a long career to that occupation.

He served for many years at Washington & Jefferson College and has also worked with West Greene High School, the Pennsylvania Mustangs of the professionaI North American Football League in 1965, the semipro football Washington Merchants and Pony League baseball teams.

His greatest loyalty througout the years, however, has been to Washlngton High School, where he graduated in 1934 and played on the football team. He still serves as a volunteer trainer for Wash High athletic teams and is known as the school’s most enthusiastic fan.

“Forbie” was named Washington Knights of Columbus Special Award winner at the annual Coach of the Year banquet in 1986.
