MILTON T. DECKER

Milton T. Decker of Washington spent 26 years as a high school football coach in Washington and Greene Counties, including 20 as head coach at Trinity High School from 1937 through 1957.

Decker, a native of Ellsworth, played guard and tackle at Waynesburg College and was named All Tri-State Conference guard in 1929. After graduating from Waynesburg in 1931, he coached at the former Richhill Township High School in Greene County from 1931 through 1933 and at Bentleyville High School from 1934 through 1936.

He coached a Greene County championship team at Richhill in 1932, had highly ranked WP1AL Class A teams at Bentleyville and his 1948 Trinity team shared the Class A title with Crafton.

Decker was one of the first T-formation coaches in Western Pennsylvania and his teams were noted for innovative and deceptive offensive formations. He was named Dapper Dan Coach of the Year in 1949.

In addition to coaching football, Decker coached track, basketball and cross country at Trinity at various times and organized a summer all sports recreation program. He played semipro football for the Moundsville, WV. Generals from 1932 through 1935.
