PERRY KEMP

Perry Kemp, graduate, California University of Pennsylvania, distinguished himself at Fort Cherry High School in football. He excelled as a collegiate wide receiver and kick returner from 1980 through 1983 at California. He made a career 165 receptions for 2,532 yards and earned the distinction of being the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference’s most prolific receiver. His 74 receptions for 1,101 yards in 1983 remain a school single-season record.

As a senior at California, Perry was instrumental in the Vulcans’ first winning season (7-3) in 13 years.

That year he established another school record with a 99-yard return. He was named the 1983 ECAC Player of the Year.

Perry had a productive professional football career in the USFL and in the National Football League, playing one year with the Cleveland Browns and four years (1988-1991), with the Green Bay Packers. He ranks in the top 15 receivers in the Packers long and fabled history.

Returning to California in his off-seasons, Perry completed his undergraduate studies while serving as the top statistician in the California Sports Information Department. Perry was inducted into the California University of Pennsylvania’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995.

Originally from Westland, Pa., Perry now resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
