ROBERT K. MOORE

Robert K. Moore of R.D. 1, Claysville, will he honored for his marksmanship career which started in 1937.

Moore began with the Sprowls Hardware rifle team and later was a member of Firestone and Frazier Simplex teams.

He won four Pennsylvania state championships beginning in 1945 with four Moores, Wayne, Bertie, Charlie and Bob combining to win a national prone team championship in 1943. In 1952 he was the national sectional champion and won the four position national prone in 1958 and the civilian position title in 1960 at Camp Perry, Ohio. He was coach of the U.S. International Dewar team in 1959 and captain in 1960.

Moore also won the international free rifle three position title. He was a member of four Frazier Simplex prone national championship teams and five Frazier Simplex team position national champions and prone team sight champions at Camp Perry in 1947 and won Lyman doubles with G. Wayne Moore in 1947 and 1957. He won the Eastern regional international three-position title in Baltimore.

Moore also set several records for prone shooting and was a member of the Frazier Simplex fourman team which set a four-position record at the national championships in 1957 with a score of 1,587 out of 1,600. He was first alternate two times each on the U.S. Olympic and Pan American rifle teams and was high scorer in Pittsburgh Suburban and Mon Valley Indoor leagues. He has won more than 200 trophies, medals and prizes for shooting.
