President / Co-Director of the Washington County Road Runners Club (WCRRC) since the early 1980s
• The WCRRC is the oldest and one of the largest road running
clubs in Western PA with more than 150 members from PA, WV
and OH
• Served as co-publisher of the monthly WCRRC newsletter for the
past 35 years
• Race director of more than 50 road races over the past 20 years
including 5-Dam Miles, Conservation 10K and the Whiskey
Rebellion 5K
• Those races and other club charitable fund raisers resulted in more
than $40,000 in donations to local charities including Children’s
Hospital and the Washington County Food Bank
• Race official / timer for more than 100 local events
• Past running columnist for the Observer-Reporter for 8 years
• Completed more than 50 marathons with a personal best time of
3:11
• Qualified for the Boston Marathon
• Trinity High School assistant track coach for 3 years in the 1980s
• Started the Trinity Middle School track program and served as
head coach for 3 seasons
• Logged over 75,000 personal running miles over 30 years
• English teacher in the Trinity School District for 38 years, retiring in
June 2016
• Trinity Teacher of the Year: 2002
• Wal-Mart Trinity Teacher of the Year: 2003
• Teacher of Excellence finalist for Teacher Excellence Center of
Western PA: 2007
• Howard Jack Teaching Award, Washington County Community
